1. Who we are
Dink in a Box is operated by DINK Productions, LLC.
Post: 6416 Providence Farm Lane, Unit 1219, Charlotte, NC 28277, USA
Email:privacy@dinkr.co
If you have any question about this policy or your data, email us.
2. In short
We collect what we need to run pickleball sessions, leagues and events — your
profile, the sessions you play, and (only if you allow it) your location.
We do not show ads and we do not sell your personal information.
You can delete your account and its data from inside the app at any time.
The app is for adults. It is not intended for anyone under 18.
3. Information we collect
3.1 Information you give us
Name, email address - To create your account and identify you to other players
Profile photo (optional) - Shown on your profile and in sessions
Handle (e.g. @spindoctor), gender, age, skill rating Session formats and fair matchmaking depend on these
Venues you save - So we can show your clubs and their events
Venue listings you submit - Added to our public venue directory
Messages and announcements you send - Delivered to the players or venue followers you address
Host access requests - So we can verify and approve hosts
3.2 Information created as you play
Scores, match and session results, ratings derived from results, attendance and check-ins, league standings, and event participation. Some of this is visible to other players in the same session, league or event — that is the point of the product.
3.3 Information collected automatically
Device identifiers and push tokens, so we can send notifications
Diagnostic and crash information, to fix faults
Approximate/precise location, only when you use a location feature
3.4 Device permissions
We ask only when a feature needs it, and you can refuse or revoke any of them in your device settings. Refusing only disables that feature.
Location — to find venues and events near you, and to place a venue you submit on the map. Not collected in the background.
Camera — to scan QR codes for joining sessions and adding players, and to take a profile photo.
Photo library — to choose a profile photo.
Microphone — for optional voice score-keeping ("voice to score"). Speech is converted to text by your device's own speech-recognition service (Apple on iOS, Google on Android). We do not record, store or transmit audio; we only receive the recognised words in order to update the score.
Notifications — session alerts, event updates, and messages.
Motion & fitness / Health (Apple Watch only) — step count and heart rate during a session you start, shown back to you. Not shared with other players.
4. How we use information
To operate your account; run sessions, leagues, tournaments and events; compute ratings and standings; show you nearby venues and events; deliver notifications and messages; maintain a venue directory; provide support; keep the service secure and prevent abuse; and comply with law. We do not use your data for advertising or sell it.
5. Who we share it with
Other players. Your name, handle, photo, rating and results are visible to players in the same session, league or event, and to hosts of events you join.
Service providers who process data on our behalf:
Google / Firebase (Google LLC) — sign-in, database, file storage, server functions, push notifications, and Google Maps on Android. Google acts as our processor for these.
Apple Inc. — Sign in with Apple, Apple Maps, and push delivery on iOS.
Google Cloud email delivery — transactional email such as host-request and venue-submission notices sent to our administrators.
Optional rating partner. If you choose to link a VAIR / Vairified rating ID, we send that ID to VAIR to verify it and retrieve your rating. This happens only if you enter an ID; leave it blank and nothing is shared.
Legal and safety. We may disclose information where required by law, or to protect our rights, users, or the public.
Business transfer. If the business is sold or merged, information may transfer as part of that transaction; this policy will continue to apply, or you will be told of any change.
We do not share your personal information with advertisers or data brokers.
6. Public and shared content
Venue listings you submit, event and league names you create, and messages you broadcast to a venue's followers are visible to other users. Please don't put anything private into those fields.
7. How long we keep it
We keep your account information while your account exists. Match results and standings may be kept in aggregate form so leagues and ratings remain accurate. Some records persist in encrypted backups for a limited period after deletion, and we may retain what the law requires.
8. Deleting your data
Two ways: In the app: Profile → the delete-account control. This removes your account and associated personal data.
On the web: the request form at dinkr.co/delete
Deletion is permanent. Content already shared with others (for example a message you sent, or a completed match result attributed to a league) may remain where removing it would misrepresent another player's record.
9. Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Authoritative data — ratings, roles, results — is written only by our servers, not by the app, so it cannot be altered from a device. Access to production systems is restricted. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Children
Dink in a Box is intended for people 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us information, email privacy@dinkr.co and we will delete it.
11. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. California residents may request disclosure of personal information collected and its deletion, and may not be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA. Exercise any of these by emailing privacy@dinkr.co, or by using the in-app deletion control.
12. International users
We operate in the United States, and information is processed there. If you use the app from outside the US, you understand your information will be transferred to and processed in the US, where privacy laws may differ from those in your country.
13. Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be signalled by revising the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notifying you in the app. Continuing to use Dink in a Box after a change means you accept the updated policy.
